The Xiaomi 17T smartphone features a 6.59-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate, offering a screen-to-body ratio of 89.8% and 1.5K resolution.
With a resolution of 1268 x 2756 pixels and a density of 460 PPI, the display delivers sharp visuals. It supports 68 billion colors, Dolby Vision, and HDR10+. Additionally, the display supports 3840Hz PWM dimming and offers a peak brightness of up to 3500 nits.
To protect the screen from accidental drops and breakage, it comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection.
Regarding OS updates, the company has announced that the Xiaomi 17T will receive a total of four OS updates and six years of security updates. The smartphone was launched running Android 16 with HyperOS 3.
Design details and connectivity
Regarding the design of the Xiaomi 17T, it features a plastic frame and a glass-plastic back panel, with Gorilla Glass 7i protection for the back.
The device measures 157.6 x 75.2 mm with a thickness of 8.2 mm and holds an IP68 rating for protection against water and dust, making it durable for long-term use.
For connectivity, the phone offers robust features including Wi-Fi 6e, Bluetooth 6, USB Type-C 2.0, OTG support, an IR Blaster, NFC for contactless payments, GPS, and dual Nano SIM support. Additionally, the Xiaomi 17T comes equipped with dual stereo speakers featuring Dolby Atmos and an optical fingerprint scanner.
It is available in four color options: Purple, Blue, Opal White, and Black.
Battery and processor performance
The Xiaomi 17T smartphone utilizes silicon-carbon battery technology and houses a 6500mAh battery.
According to Xiaomi, the device can run continuously for up to 17.2 hours; with moderate usage (social media, videos, camera, and light gaming), it offers a battery life of approximately 1.5 days. However, as these figures are based on specific tests, the actual battery performance will only be revealed through real-world usage.
To fast-charge this high-capacity battery, the box includes a 67W charger, a Type-A to Type-C cable, and a SIM ejector tool.
Additionally, it supports 50W PPS PD3.0 and 22.5W reverse wired charging. Notably, the smartphone does not support bypass charging or wireless charging.
To ensure strong performance, the device is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra processor, built on 4nm technology.
The phone operates smoothly and quickly during everyday tasks and is capable enough for heavy gaming, though it may prove somewhat limited for extreme, hardcore gaming sessions. It features the Mali-G720 MC8 GPU for graphics processing.
Camera Review
Speaking of the Xiaomi 17T’s camera, it features a Leica-tuned camera module setup. It sports a triple-camera configuration:
the primary sensor is a 50-megapixel unit with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), PDAF, and an f/1.7 aperture.
It also includes a 50-megapixel telephoto periscope lens with an f/3.0 aperture and 5x optical zoom, alongside a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera with an f/2.2 aperture.
For selfies and video calling, the Xiaomi 17T is equipped with a 32-megapixel front-facing sensor. The front camera allows for smooth 4K video recording at 30 FPS, while the rear camera supports 4K recording at both 30 and 60 FPS. Overall, the camera setup is impressive, capable of capturing high-quality photos and videos.
